A Case Study of the Social Skills Improvement Group Counseling for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Children

Abstract
This study are to develop the Social Skills Improvement Croup Counseling Program for ADHD Children and to examine the effects of the program on improving ADHD Children¢¥s social skills.
Subjects were 6 third-fifth-grade children who diagnosed as ADHD from psychiatric of ¡Û¡Û University hospital. They partici- pated in the Social Skills Improvement Croup Counseling Program that based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The program was consisted of the twelve sessions (fifty minutes per session) program, that include five phases which are building an rapport, cognition of oneself, making friends skills, problem solving, and reorienting/ reeducating.
Major findings were as follows:
1. The Social Skills Improvement Group Counseling Program improved participants¢¥s Social Skills.
2. The Social Skills Improvement Croup Counseling Program reduced participants¢¥s ADHD symptoms ¡¤ Inattention and Impur-sivity were reduced, but Hyperactivity was not significantly reduced.
